Brenden Aaronson wants to leave RB Salzburg, with Leeds United said to be favourites to sign the midfielder in the summer.
Leeds wanted Aaronson back in the January transfer window and saw bids rejected by Salzburg.
The highest of those bids was a reported GBP20m, yet Leeds were met by a stern negotiator in the Austrian club.
Despite missing out on Aaronson in January, Leeds’ interest has not fallen away.
As per Florian Plettenberg, the 21-year-old wants to leave Salzburg in the summer transfer window and Leeds are favourites to sign the midfielder.
If Leeds are to get a deal done, though, it’s going to cost them a substantial fee.
The price tag is between EUR25-30m, with no release clause in Aaronson’s current deal.

It seems that Leeds weren’t a million miles off Salzburg’s asking price for Aaronson in January, so you wouldn’t expect figures to be an issue sorting out a deal in the summer window.
With Aaronson keen to leave and Leeds now under the management of Jesse Marsch, a former coach of Aaronson, you’d think that suggestions that they are in the driving seat to sign the midfielder are accurate.
Perhaps one of the only things working against Leeds getting the wheels back in motion earlier than the summer window is the fact that they don’t know what division they will be in next season.
Leeds are still flirting with the possibility of relegation, but know a couple of wins will see them planning for next season in the Premier League.
That’s when they can truly press on with agreeing a fee for Aaronson.
