Leeds United are interested in signing Koln centre back Timo Hubers in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to a report from The Daily Mail, who say the Whites are one of several Premier League clubs interested in signing the 25-year-old.
Hubers only joined Koln in the summer of 2021 from German second-tier side Hannover, but only signed a two-year contract with the club.
As a result, the centre back will be entering the final year of his contract with Koln in the summer, something which appears to be attracting plenty of attention from England.
According to this latest update, Leeds, along with Premier League rivals Southampton, Crystal Palace, West Ham and Newcastle, as well as Championship leaders Fulham are all interested in Hubers.
Given his contract situation, it is thought that the centre back will be available for a fee of around GBP6million once the market opens.
To date, Hubers has made 18 appearances in all competitions for Koln, scoring once in that time, in a 2-2 draw with Bochum back in January.
This is an interesting one to consider from a Leeds United perspective.
Given defence has been an issue for them this season, with no Premier League club conceding more goals, you can understand why that may be an area they want to strengthen this summer.
However, when you consider the options they have at centre back, that is an area where they have more depth than other positions, meaning you wonder if this can afford to be a priority for the club.
Even so, that GBP6million valuation could still be well within Leeds’ price range this summer, without it taking too much out of the budget, meaning if they are to add another centre back to their side, this could be the way to go.
