Phillips’ role in winning promotion to the Premier League means he will always be consider a legend at the club.
That, though, goes out of the window if he moves on to Man United in the summer transfer window, such is the rivalry between the two.
The likes of Eric Cantona, Rio Ferdinand and Alan Smith have never been forgiven for their departures previously and it would be a shame for Phillips’ legacy to go up in smoke in this manner.
