Frank Lampard drops major Leeds relegation view after Everton win v Chelsea

Frank Lampard has shared his view on Leeds United and Premier League relegation after Everton beat Chelsea on Sunday [1 May].

The Toffees’ win at Goodison Park put them two points behind the Whites and Burnley with a game in hand as things stand.

Leeds have the worst goal difference of the three, and Lampard admitted he can’t control how they now play in games.

Speaking to Liverpool World after the full-time whistle on Sunday, Lampard shared his verdict on the current battle.

“With us, are we expecting Burnley to win every game? At the minute, maybe yes. Are we expecting Leeds to win every game?” he said.

“It’s hard to say what’s in our hands or not. The only thing I can say is we can control certain things and that’s when we play.

“That’s the difficult thing about yesterday. We can’t control Burnley, can’t control Leeds, can control ourselves.”

Shocking.

This weekend could not have gone any worst for Leeds.

At one stage, Watford were cruising to victory against Burnley, only to throw it all away in the final seven minutes and lose somehow.

Then Chelsea missed buckets of chances only to hand Richarlison an easy winner after a mistake at the back.

Of course, these teams don’t do this against us, but we cannot feel sorry for ourselves in these situations – it is still somewhat in our hands.

Everton have the game-in-hand, but if Leeds pick up a couple of wins in their final four games, it may be enough.

No one has helped on this journey, including our own board failing in the transfer window, and other clubs handing out easy three points.

Lampard knows it isn’t over yet, and we have to have that same mentality that we will get out of this mess – fingers crossed.
