Leeds United could now straight-up “Cancel” the contract of Kiko Casilla, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper has reported in their latest print edition [20 June, pg. 65] that the Whites are contemplating drastic action regarding the future of the Spaniard at Elland Road.
There had been strong talk of Leeds reaching a financial settlement with the keeper, but this appears to be a more abrupt approach to their business at Elland Road.
Writing in his latest Window Watch, Simon Jones shared the latest: “Leeds United may cancel goalkeeper Kiko Casilla’s contract and are eyeing Manchester City midfielder, James McAtee.”
The Spaniard could be set to leave Elland Road with no payment, something that could lead to a headache further down the line if that is challenged before the 2022-23 season begins.
Get him gone.
There is no room for Casilla at Elland Road, it is simply time for him to pack his bags and leave.
After being found guilty of racially abusing Jonathan Leko back in 2019, the Spaniard should have been immediately terminated, but instead, he was kept around by Marcelo Bielsa.
That was a shocking decision, and despite his loan move to Elche in the latest season being a good step, it is time to move him on completely from West Yorkshire.
Leeds could be challenged by the keeper, who is said to be on big money at Elland Road, but given his more than chequered past, it would appear that there are more grounds for him to be terminated.
It is time to get rid, whether that be a settlement or just simply cancelling his contract, Casilla needs to be off the books at Leeds and nowhere near the club.
It may have taken Andrea Radrizzani years too long, but the right decision is coming.
