Leeds United are expected to sign a new goalkeeper this summer to provide backup to Illan Meslier.
One of the main positions that appears to be locked down under Jesse Marsch for 2022/23 is the goalkeeper slot.
Illan Meslier’s performances since coming into the lineup in 2020 are a major reason for Leeds’ success since.
While Meslier appears to be the main man for the foreseeable future, cover for him is somewhat concerning.
Kristoffer Klaesson may have put in a mammoth display on his debut against Wolves, but a lack of experience means he’s not a concrete option as backup.

Now, The Athletic’s Phil Hay has issued an update on the club’s potential search for a number two behind the French stopper.
Speaking on The Phil Hay Show podcast, he had this to say about the club’s stance on signing a new ‘keeper:
“There is just that concern about if Meslier was to get injured, do they have what they need to see them through the period where he’s missing? They had a look at Darren Randolph down at West Ham in January but didn’t do it.
“That is the kind of keeper that they would look for, somebody with good experience. I have a feeling that they might well do that.”
It makes sense that the option that we’re looking to bring in is someone with great experience.
Not only would they be able to step up when they come into the side, but their knowledge is so valuable just on the training ground.
There’s a reason many clubs have these sorts of ‘keepers in their squads every season.
Randolph would be a smart signing in that sense, knowing we’re getting a dependable option that will also aid Meslier’s development.
