Leeds announced that Phillips was heading for Man City yesterday, in a deal that’s worth potentially ?45m to the club in the future.
However, it would have been very different if results had not gone Leeds’ way on the final day of the season at Brentford, with Phillips available for a cut-price.
Leeds beat nine-man Brentford on the final day, which combined with Burnley’s loss to Newcastle, kept Jesse Marsch’s side in the Premier League.
