It’s common knowledge Leeds United are eager to add a left-back to their squad ahead of the start of the new season. The trouble is sometimes when everyone knows what you want, people can prove to be difficult in allowing you to get it.
In a summer that has seen plenty of activity in and out of the club, Leeds’ hunt for a left-back to help strengthen the squad remains a priority. There have been players in the frame, players out the frame and players linked simply because they have a left foot as the transfer rumour mill turns at a pace that could power all of Yorkshire.
Among those thought to be on Victor Orta and Jesse Marsch’s shopping list in recent weeks is PSV Eindhoven defender Philipp Max. It’s our understanding this interest was genuine and not a fanciful rumour, however getting a deal done may now just be that, fanciful.
Leeds were understood to have tabled a ?7m bid for the dangerous attacking left-back. The 28-year-old German international fits the idea mould for the style Marsch wants to adopt in the Premier League and Max would give Leeds that and more.
