West Yorkshire Police have shut part of a road in Leeds with a cordon currently in place.

Officers have been seen attending an incident in Spencer Place, which is in Harehills and on the border with Chapeltown today (April 15), with a witness claiming multiple roads have been closed off by officers.

It is not yet clear why the cordon is in place or what officers are investigating.

The street runs between the A58 and Potternewton Park.. Leeds Live has contacted West Yorkshire Police for more information.

‘There’s always something bad happening here,’ says concerned resident

A resident of a nearby street said: “It’s really not nice and very scary. This is a family area – we’re making a hard living and we don’t need this. But there’s always something bad happening here.”

A resident who attempted to leave his house was told he needed to use the proerty’s back door, according to our reporter at the scene.

“It seems like they are stopping residents even going through the scene,” she said.
