Flights departing from Leeds Bradford Airport are facing small delays this Jubilee Sunday, and passengers report long queues outside the airport prevailed again for early morning departures.
Throughout the Jubilee Bank Holiday, there have been scenes of “carnage” as people continue to arrive and face “mile” long queues. However on Saturday afternoon (June 4) passengers reported improvements at the airport with some holidaymakers claiming the airport was deserted, with security taking just eight minutes to get through.
Delays continue to be an ongoing issue at the airport due to a struggle with staff shortages. This morning between 5am and 8am passengers heading to the airport reported waiting outside in sea of people, pushchairs, and luggage.

Some passengers added that despite the long queues, the pace getting through security was between 45 minutes to an hour – an improvement on the two to three hour waiting times ongoing since April.
A spokesperson for Leeds Bradford Airport has advised passengers to arrive at the airport three hours before their trip. They said: “We are currently anticipating longer queue times for our security process. We would recommend arriving no earlier than three hours before departure to allow suitable time for security screening.”
Early morning flights including trips to Amsterdam, Dublin, Faro, and more departing from LBA this morning were airborne up to 18 minutes after departure time. Those heading to the airport this morning should bare in mind there may be delays or cancellations in place.
