The 70+ Premier League free agents Victor Orta could look to in order to bolster Leeds United squad rebuild

After finishing in ninth place in their first season back in the Premier League in over 16 years last season, Leeds United did not plan to come so alarmingly close to relegation this time around. In the end, a return to the Championship was avoided on the final day of the season, as Leeds beat Brentford 3-1, whilst Burnley were defeated 2-1 by Newcastle, meaning the Whites stayed up by three points.

One of the major factors in Leeds‘ struggles in their second season in the Premier League was a clear lack of quality and depth in the squad. Some players, who had starred in the league in 20/21 were unable to recreate their previous levels, whilst long term injuries to key players such as Patrick Bamford, Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper were badly felt.

As such, Victor Orta has a lot of work to do this summer to ensure that the squad is in much healthier shape for the next season. Brenden Aaronson has already been confirmed as the first signing, with the American international attacking midfielder joining last week. Alongside Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen is expected to join from RB Salzburg, as Leeds look to add a new right back due to both Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas recovering from surgeries.

Several more positions will be targeted, including central midfield, centre forward and goalkeeper. Orta could draw from the names in the list below, compiled by Sporting Life, as a cost effective option in one of the positions:
