A man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a woman in Leeds.

West Yorkshire Police were called to a report of a woman having been assaulted at an address in Bangor Grove, Lower Wortley, at 11.59pm last night (June 6).

Police attended and found a 35-year-old woman with serious injuries. She was taken to Leeds General Infirmary for emergency treatment but was pronounced dead a short time later.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. Detectives from the force’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team are leading the investigation into the incident, which is being treated as domestic-related.

Scenes remain in place around Bangor Grove to undergo forensic examination and specialist searches.

Mum-of-one branded incident ‘upsetting’ and ‘shocking’

Shannon Driffield, 22, mum-of-one who lives nearby said it was “shocking” to hear what happened so close to her home.

She said: “It is shocking a bit shocking. You have to be a bit weary down here.

“I have not actually sent or heard anything about what’s happened yet. It is a bit scary and upsetting when you think about it.”
