Leeds United are set to spend £40million to bring in Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra inside a week, according to Phil Hay in The Athletic.
Hay confirms the Whites are at an “advanced stage” in the processes for the American midfielder and Colombian winger and are “positioning themselves to complete both deals in the week ahead”.
RB Leipzig man Adams, 23, has previously worked with manager Jesse Marsch both in Germany and at New York Red Bulls, and is being targeted as a replacement for Kalvin Phillips whose £42million move to Manchester City was confirmed on Monday.
Feyenoord winger Sinisterra, also 23, is likely to be needed for when the ongoing transfer saga around Raphinha’s expected exit reaches its conclusion.
Fabrizio Romano has said the deal is already in place for Adams with only the medical to go, as the first of the club’s dominoes looks to fall into place, while he reports that the move for Sinisterra is not far behind with personal terms done and a fee set.
De Telegraaf in Holland report that it is to be the Eredivisie side’s record sale, something which may need to be the case also for Club Brugge’s Charles de Ketelaere, rated at £35million [Daily Mail].
Hay says he is still a “serious target” but will not become the priority after after the other two are secured in the coming days.
Making moves
The contrast between this summer’s window and the January one could not be greater, with the fifth and sixth additions now imminent.
With Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca and Darko Gyabi already brought in and £45million spent, United are not slowing down.
The departure of key man Phillips, and the likelihood that Raphinha follows, has necessitated extra activity in the market to prevent the club going backwards from a spot where they were almost relegated to the Championship anyway.
On paper things are starting to look promising but all of the new pieces will mean nothing if Marsch can’t get them integrated into his squad and his tactics implemented as quickly as possible.
Despite exciting Belgian de Ketelaere turning down the Whites [Alexandre Braeckman] they have still not dropped out of the race.
There appears to be a belief that they can change his mind, especially if AC Milan are unable to offer him his desired move.
Should the 21-year-old also arrive at Elland Road this summer then there will be a lot to be excited about, as long as all the signings can adapt.
In other Leeds United news, one European club president has got personally involved in negotiations to bring in a player from Elland Road who has had terrible recent luck.
