2 reasons why Jesse Marsch simply must integrate Leeds United right-back ahead of 2022/23

Leeds United right-back Cody Drameh is shining while on loan at Cardiff City, and could be finding his way back into the plans at the club under Jesse Marsch.

It came as a shock when Leeds allowed Drameh a loan move to Cardiff in January, right as Marcelo Bielsa’s side were desperately short of numbers.

The then-manager confirmed that it was the right-backs choice to go out in search of game time, and he’s found just that under Steve Morison at Cardiff.

A change in management at Leeds might just have altered the stance of the club on Drameh’s future, and he could be set for an improved role next term.

Here, we take a look at two reasons why we think Jesse Marsch must integrate Drameh into his plans next season

Our right-back situation

It’s not a secret that Leeds need reinforcements in the summer, and one of those positions is right-back.

While Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas have been dependable servants to the club, it’s getting to the point where we need to be looking at improving this position.

It’s an area of the pitch that we have looked exposed in all season regardless of who has played.

Drameh coming in allows us a fresh(ish) face to fight for the spot, and is a great prospect for the future.

We still need a senior man to come in, but he’s a great start.

His own outstanding form

It’s also hard to look past the fact that Drameh is performing brilliantly anyway.

His loan decision has paid immediate dividends with his form in South Wales outstanding, seeing him not miss a Championship game so far.

In that time, he’s managed three assists and put in overall remarkable performances.

Loan moves typically either allow a player to gain vital match experience, or prove they are someone worthy of another chance at their parent club – Drameh’s is doing both.

If Joe Gelhardt is worth his chance up front, Drameh is too.
