Club in contact with Raphinha representatives as Leeds United summer swoop becomes a possibility

Barcelona have held talks with Deco over a potential transfer swoop for Leeds United winger Raphinha.

Leeds are currently fighting to retain their Premier League status, with Raphinha chipping in with an assist in a crucial 2-1 win over Norwich City yesterday afternoon.

However, beyond the 2021/22 campaign, there will be serious questions asked of Raphinha’s long-term future at Elland Road.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona have made contact with Deco, Raphinha’s agent, to discuss the winger.

There have been no talks with Leeds, with Romano noting how their asking price for Raphinha will fluctuate depending on what division they are preparing for in 2022/23.

Romano also details the interest that Liverpool and Chelsea have previously had in the Brazil international.

Raphinha, 25, has scored nine goals this season and registered a further three assists for the Whites, who are still transitioning from Marcelo Bielsa to Jesse Marsch.

Leeds are naturally going to be fielding a lot of interest in Raphinha when the summer transfer window comes along.

His stats in Leeds’ squad stand out this season and his form on the international stage will only add to that.

Barcelona’s relationship with Deco will give them the belief that they can land a deal for the 25-year-old, although you do wonder whether or not Leeds’ valuation will become a problem.

If Leeds stay up, Raphinha is going to command a fee well north of GBP50m and Barcelona might not be able to compete with the money that other clubs could offer the Whites.
