Joe Gelhardt was Leeds United’s man of the moment yesterday, scoring a 94th minute goal to secure a 2-1 win over Norwich City at Elland Road.
Leeds were left gutted as Kenny McLean’s 91st minute strike cancelled out Rodrigo’s opening goal, until Gelhardt struck very late on to win a crucial three points for Jesse Marsch.
That was the striker’s second goal for Leeds since breaking through into the first-team this season.
And, clearly, it was a moment that wasn’t lost on the 19-year-old.
He took to Instagram to offer his reaction alongside a handful of images.
Yesterday’s win still leaves Leeds sitting 16th in the Premier League table, but they’ve now opened up a five-point gap between themselves and Burnley.
Burnley do have two games in-hand over Leeds, but the pressure is firmly on them to catch back up with Leeds in those fixtures, whilst Watford, who sit 18th in the table, are four points adrift of Marsch’s side.
What a moment for Gelhardt.
His previous goal (his first for Leeds) will have been memorable, but the moment was sort of robbed away from him by the fact that it came in a dramatic 3-2 defeat against Chelsea.
Yesterday, though, was epic for the teenager.
Scoring the winning goal in such an important fixture for Leeds, in-front of the Kop, will have been the stuff of dreams for the emerging talent.
Fingers crossed there are more moments like that for Gelhardt in a Leeds shirt.
