There have been no formal offers for Leeds United winger Raphinha, despite the club being well aware of Barcelona’s interest in signing him this summer.
Leeds are fighting for their lives in the Premier League this season and moved seven points clear of the relegation zone – albeit in a disjointed table – heading into March’s international break.
The break, though, has brought fresh speculation surrounding the future of Raphinha.
Fabrizio Romano has been detailing Barcelona’s interest in doing a deal for the Leeds winger in the summer. Whilst AS have also been discussing the possibility of the 25-year-old moving on.
The Yorkshire Evening Post, though, have been able to provide a further update on what’s going on.
They state that whilst Leeds are well aware of Barcelona’s interest in Raphinha, there have been no formal offers for the winger.
Raphinha has starred for Leeds and Brazil at times this season, scoring nine goals in the Premier League and three in only seven appearances as he begins to burst onto the international scene.
There might not be any formal offers for Raphinha yet, but speculation is building and you sense that it might only be a matter of time before Leeds are fielding one.
Such is the profile of Raphinha after his international breakthrough, he’s going to attract this level of interest.
Someone like Barcelona would be really hard for him to turn down and Leeds don’t want to get into the position where they are standing in his way of what might be a dream move.
In many ways, whilst it would be disappointing seeing Raphinha leave, it would be better to see him head into Europe rather than elsewhere in the Premier League.
You sense that when push comes to shove, there will be interest from both divisions, it’s just a case of sitting tight and seeing which move the winger prefers.
