Talks are ongoing between Leeds United and West Ham over a compensation fee for Sonny Perkins, as the youngster closes in on becoming the seventh summer arrival at Elland Road.
Leeds are aiming to bolster both their first-team squad and U21 setup this summer, with six signings made already.
Perkins is reportedly going to become the seventh, having left West Ham.
The Athletic detail how Perkins is set to sign for Leeds after turning down professional terms with West Ham.
It’s also claimed within their report that Leeds and West Ham are holding talks over a settlement fee for the 18-year-old, with West Ham due compensation despite the fact Perkins is a free agent.
Leeds failing to negotiate that fee with West Ham will leave a tribunal to decide the outlay.

These are crucial talks for both Leeds and West Ham.
Perkins does look destined for Elland Road, yet Leeds will have a deal to thrash out on the back of that completion.
They will have a fee in mind that they are willing to pay West Ham, whilst the Hammers will also have their own fee in mind.
Leeds will want to settle things before they reach the tribunal stage, as that could lead to them paying more for the service of the teenager given those scenarios do sometimes lean in favour of the club losing the player.
It’s a development to watch out for beyond the transfer’s completion.
